Reflection for English learners

Keep track of how your learning feels, month by month.

Reflecta (stylized as Reflectα) is a learning portal where students rate their motivation for English each month on a five-point scale, set goals for each study period, and write reflections when it ends. Students can look back on how they have changed, and teachers can review participation in one place.

  • Runs in the browser on computers and phones
  • Google Sign-In requests only openid / email

For Students

Write it down.
Plan ahead. Look back.

Reflection only works if it becomes a habit. Reflectα keeps each form short so that monthly and per-period entries stay manageable, and everything you write can be reviewed and edited later.

01 — Monthly entry

How this month felt,
and why.

Each month, students choose how motivated they feel about learning English, from “not at all” to “very much,” and write down what caused the change. The reasons behind the numbers are kept so they can be read again later.

  • Answer for a selected academic year and month
  • Up to 1,000 characters for the reason
  • A confirmation step before saving

02 — Goals and reflection

Set a goal,
then check it at the end.

At the start of a period, students write specific goals, the actions they will take, the distractions they expect and how to handle them, and a 0–100 confidence score. When the period ends, they record what they actually did, what went well, and what they would change next time.

  • Up to three goals (200 characters each); actions and plans up to 500
  • Confidence set with a slider or by typing a number
  • Reflections appear next to the original plan

03 — My page

A year of change,
in charts and in words.

Past answers are charted from April to the following March for each academic year and can be overlaid on the previous year. From the monthly history, students can reread the reasons they wrote at the time and correct them.

  • Toggle which academic years are shown
  • Review and edit past answers, including written reasons
  • Edits are kept in a change history

For Teachers

Where your class is now,
and how it got there.

Authorized teachers can review response status, monthly trends and distributions, written responses, and goal and reflection submissions for the students in their assigned scope. Filters make differences between grades, schools, and response status easy to see.

Illustrative screen. All names and figures are fictional. The app interface is shown in Japanese.

  • Trends and distributions

Charts for monthly averages, response rates, motivation distribution, and grade or school comparisons.

  • Individual records

Open any student from the roster to see every academic year’s trend and response history together.

  • Written responses and goals

Search written responses by keyword and see who has set goals or submitted reflections.

  • Transparent records

Edits to answers are kept in a history, and anonymized CSV exports are available for analysis.
